BULGARIA Live Permaculture Design Course

7 May @ 1:00 AM 28 May @ 10:00 AM Sofia, Bulgaria

Join us in beautiful Bulgaria!
Join us for this unique opportunity to serve while learning. We will be leading our first cohort of students in Bulgaria, in the village of Malak Preslavets on the southern banks of the River Danube, in an area of immense natural beauty. The village is home to the famed Kingdom of Water Lilies and a short distance from the Srebarna Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will be working on establishing an ecovillage whose purpose is to serve at-risk youth and the elders of the village. All of our design work during the course will focus on improvements to the available properties there. In time, it will become a place of safety and education for young people who have left the Bulgarian social care system, and develop into an organization that reaches out to struggling communities in Bulgaria, especially to Romani settlements, to offer our help in making them more self-sustaining and resilient.

Our students want to make the world a better place, create resilience in their own lives, and inspire their communities to do the same. Developed in the 1980s by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, permaculture is:

“The conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with people providing their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.”

But you don’t have to have a farm to practice permaculture. In fact, permaculture can be practiced ANYWHERE people live. Read more about the LIVE PDC here.
