Early Spring Advanced Permaculture Practicum 2025: The Herb Garden

14 February, 2025 @ 8:00 AM 28 February, 2025 @ 5:00 PM EST

This is an opportunity for PDC program graduates to put their education to use. During these two weeks we will work on various projects that incorporate what you learned at your PDC. These may include large or small scale building projects, terraforming projects, planting, rainwater collection and storage, and a variety of projects that demonstrate appropriate technology.

At the end of this intensive, you will be more than ready to begin your Permaculture practice as a Designer and Teacher.

This practicum will focus on preparing a 1.5 acre site for a large commercial herb garden and small orchard. Terraforming, irrigation, layout and bed preparation, building projects, and more. The challenge is that the space must be aesthetically pleasing to farmer, farmworkers, and visitors; must make best use of the landscape conditions; and must be an optimally-efficient system from a commercial standpoint.

Meals are included for resident students, except those you choose to take on your own off-campus. Saturdays and Sundays are free for exploring the local area, hiking the trails, organizing and participating in various activities, or for chilling together on the farm.

  • Private vehicles may be used off campus. We encourage our students to bring a bicycle to get around town for conveniences.
  • Accommodation is camping. You can bring and pitch a tent or yurt. You are also welcome to bring your camper or tiny house. We do have limited space for those. Depending upon size, we can accommodate approximately six.
  • Smoking, drugs, and alcohol are strictly prohibited on the property.

Health and Safety Measures:
If you have cold or flu-like symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19, please mask when your indoors. Your instructor is an immuno-compromised person. Masking is otherwise optional, according to your comfort.

Please practice good sense and hygiene.
